The Global Alarmist just received this Global Warming call for action update from Nancy Pelosi. It is nice to see Nancy sticking to business closer to home after the Middle East step on the crank. "I hope that you will join with my friend, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, as she and her colleagues in the House take action on the important issue of global warming. -- Barbara Boxer

Dear Global Alarmist,

Join our fight in the House to prevent global warming!

Reversing the effects of global warming may be the greatest challenge of our time, and at stake is our economy, environment, national security and our children's future. We cannot wait any longer to act.

The scientific evidence on global warming is clear. Scientists predict if global warming is left unchecked and the Earth continues to warm that an increase in temperature from today's levels could mean increased flooding, drought, rising sea levels and even lost ecosystems. The House, Senate and the American people agree -- we need a new direction on global warming.

Democrats in Congress are taking action now. However, we can't do it alone here on Capitol Hill. We must show the President that we have the support of the American people in our fight against global warming. Join the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee's (DCCC) fight in the House to prevent global warming.

Join our fight in the House: House Democrats are taking action on global warming in Washington and we want to hear from you.
As one of my first acts as Speaker of the House, I took action addressing this critical issue and created a House Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming. This special committee will develop recommendations on policies, strategies, technologies, and other innovations to preserve our planet and reduce our dependence on foreign oil and greenhouse gas emissions, while maintaining our economic competitiveness.

For the last six years, the Bush Administration and Republicans in Congress have stifled debate and dismissed workable alternative energy solutions in order to protect their Big Oil friends. On April 2nd, the Supreme Court affirmed the federal government's role in regulating greenhouse gases and requiring upgraded pollution controls on power plants. The House and Senate are moving ahead to take action.

Together, we have the opportunity to take this country in a new direction and make a difference for future generations. We need your support today if we are going to reverse the disastrous effects of global warming.

Join our fight in the House: House Democrats are taking action in Washington and we want to hear from you.

Building on the leadership of Vice President Gore, Senator Boxer and countless others, it is my hope that Americans will join our fight to reduce emissions and greenhouse gases. Every choice we make can help -- from walking instead of driving to installing energy efficient light bulbs.

Democrats have a long tradition of standing up for the environment, and working to protect our air, water, wildlife, and natural treasures for future generations. You can count on our commitment to fight against global warming in the House. We hope we can count on your continued support.

Sincerely,

Nancy Pelosi

P.S. We need the support of the American people and community-based activism to harness their creativity and develop the kind of ground-breaking technologies and alternative energy policies. Join our fight in the House: House Democrats are taking action in Washington and we want to hear from you.
